Mother Figures in The Secret Life of Bees The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd is a captivating novel written in the viewpoint of youthful Lily Owens. Lily's story starts while she is at her home with T Ray, her shrewd dad who loathes her. She flees with her babysitter, Rosaleen, after a short fight with the law. She and Rosaleen bum a ride their approach to Tiburon, South Carolina where they meet the Boatwright sisters who will transform themselves to improve things. These ladies take them in and treat them as though they are family despite the fact that they have quite recently met. The ladies in the novel depict extensive measures of compassion to Rosaline and Lilly. Through the characters of June, Rosaleen, and August, Lily's journey for maternal qualities is satisfied when she discovers that these personas depict the nurturing characteristics of pardoning, mindful, and knowledge. In the novel, June's character vacillates from the underlying thought of scorn of Lily to when she adores her, which discloses the sustaining nature of absolution that is inside her.
